Buy American

In my last article I stressed the importance of buying American made products as a means of both fixing the US economy, and job creation. In this article I will be exploring the ways in which this can be done.

Many of you may wonder how to find American products in your nearest or favorite retail outlets, the answer is simple: you probably won't be able to, or if you can there will probably be only a limited supply of American made products, which you will probably find daunting. What you need to do at this point is to talk to the store manager, you need to let him or her know that you wish to buy American made products, and that until his or her store has more of them on their shelves you will have to spend your money elsewhere. You have to carry through with this, it cannot be just an idle threat, the thing to remember is that we are at war against our current economy, and if you no longer wish to be a POW, then you will have to make a stance somewhere. If enough people take a stand, retail outlets will start seeking American goods to put on their shelves.

The next thing you must absolutely refuse to do is shop at Walmart. Not only does Walmart pay its workers  wages so low that many of them are forced to rely on foodstamps to meet their basic needs, but Walmart actually destroys communities. When Walmart moves into a community it drives the small businesses, (many of which do sell American merchandise), into bankruptcy, and forces the groceries, and even most of the larger retailers out of town. These are companies that actually pay their workers an honest salary for the labor they provide. Remember 60% of the goods sold in America are sold at Walmart, and less than 1% of the goods sold there are American made. This is unacceptable and will not change unless we make that change happen by refusing to spend our money there.

There is also the search option. This one is fairly simple, you simply type "made in the USA" or "made in America" in the search bar of your favorite search engine, and click on the various sites listed. Not all of these sites are to be trusted, (I am always wary when ordering any products over the internet as there are so many ways for a dishonest individual to get ahold of information posted on the web, and so many ways to damage you once this information is gathered), buy you can also look up how long a business has been in operation as well as any consumer complaints listed against them via the same seach engine. Of course at this point in your life you are probably sufficiently wary of such things, and don't need any additional warnings from me.

The next thing a person can do, (and probably the single most important thing you can do), is to write or call manufacturers of the types of goods you buy, and let them know that you will not be buying their TVs, clothing, furniture, whatever the case may be, until these products have a label on them boldly stating "Made in the USA". Once the manufacturers and retailers learn that you are only interested in American made products, you will find foreign merchandise shove to the side on store shelves, and American made goods prominently placed in the center for everyone to see.

  1. But what is the USA made product cost more and I can't afford it?
You realize that the computer you are using is made from parts and/or assembled in a foreign country?

  3. Already I refuse to shop at Walmarts....and finding American made in stores is very daunting. Luckily I don't need much.

It is also a good idea about now to think about learning how to garden. That too has become a thing of the past and big Agra companies like the EVIL Monsanto and Cargill (which has merged with Monsanto) are engineering our seeds...terminator seeds, so you have to buy them new every year and cannot save seeds.
    It's a big mess
